FRANKLIN ROAD, GIBSONS
Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society is excited to announce our Franklin Road housing development in partnership with Town of Gibsons at 744 Franklin Road in Gibsons Landing.
Thanks to the Town of Gibsons and our amazing community partners, Franklin Road will provide new rental housing units suitable for two families plus a single individual or couple.
Affordability targets are 25% below market rents for two of the units (3 bedroom and studio/1 bedroom) with the third (2 bedroom laneway house) to be rented at or near market values to cross subsidize the more affordable units. A new public laneway will provide continued access between Harmony Lane and Franklin Road, including public and occupant parking.
The project is made possible through a long term land lease with the Town of Gibsons (landowner), capital grant from BC Housing, $50,000 contribution from the Town of Gibsons’ Affordable Housing Reserve, a community fundraising effort with the goal of raising $50,000, and BC Housing mortgage.

May 2018 - Council resolves to lease property to the Society.
July 2018 - Conceptual design presented at neighbourhood information meeting.
November 2018 - Development Permit approved for Garden Suite
January 2019 - Building Permit application submitted.
April 2019 - Pre-Development Funding approved by BC Housing
Summer: Laneway construction and service installation begin; foundation work begins!
Winter: Accepting applications for occupancy
Spring: Construction complete, keys ready and new residents packing and moving in!
