Cocktails for a Cause

We’re excited to partner with Bruinwood Estate Distillery on their Limited Edition Apricot Brandy, crafted right here in Roberts Creek with carefully selected BC apricots at the height of summer ripeness.

Dustyn Koch, owner and founder of Forage and Grow, used her unparalleled creativity for a good cause, creating two custom cocktail recipes for SCAHS using Bruinwood Estate’s Limited Edition Apricot Brandy.

The Kitchen Table

This bright and refreshing cocktail was inspired by summers on the Sunshine Coast. The name is a nod to the organization’s origins, which began with a passionate group of volunteers sitting around a kitchen table with a shared goal: providing affordable housing in their community.

Recipe

1 ½ oz Bruinwood Apricot Brandy
1 oz fresh lemon juice
¾ oz Madagascar vanilla and honey syrup (recipe follows)
1 egg white
3 dashes orange bitters
Tiny pinch salt

Method

Add ingredients to a shaker. Dry shake (without ice). Wet shake (with ice). Strain into a coupe glass. Enjoy!

The Porch Swing

Inspired by The Old Fashioned, this cocktail was created with relaxation in mind. Apricot Brandy takes the stage, while the sweet honey syrup brings a warm finish. Best enjoyed on the back porch in the late afternoon sun.

Recipe

2 oz Bruinwood Apricot Brandy
3 dashes orange bitters
1 dash Angostura bitters
½ oz Madagascar vanilla and honey syrup (recipe follows)

Method

Add all ingredients and stir with ice for 30 seconds. Strain and serve in a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Spritz with a lemon peel, rub the rim, and place the peel into the glass. Sip, swing, and enjoy!

To make Madagascar Vanilla and Honey Syrup, Combine ½ cup good quality local honey, ½ cup water, and 1 tbsp Madagascar vanilla paste. Simmer on medium-low heat for 10–15 minutes. Allow to cool before using. Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
