Building Stability, One Home at a Time
Across the Sunshine Coast, many workers, families, and young adults are struggling to find a place they can afford to call home. The Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society is changing that — one building, one household, and one story at a time.
Affordable housing doesn’t just provide a roof; it offers stability, confidence, and the freedom to plan for the future. Every home we build makes a lasting difference — for the people who live there, for local employers who depend on them, and for the entire community that grows stronger when everyone has a place to belong.
Shaw Place: A Place to Call Home
Shaw Place, our newest non-profit apartment building in Gibsons, opened its doors in 2024. It provides 40 secure, energy-efficient rental homes for local residents — from tradespeople and care workers to young families and retirees.
For one tenant, Aaron, a 29-year own construction business owner who has lived on the Coast his whole life, moving into Shaw Place has meant finally having the stability to look toward the future:
”Living in this building gives me confidence. It reassures me that I’m never going to be homeless. It allows me and my girlfriend to think about the future — to feel like this is forever.”
Be Part of the Change
Stories like this are made possible because of community support.
Through the 1000 Strong for Housing Campaign, we’re calling on 1,000 community members to join together and make monthly contributions that help create more affordable homes like Shaw Place.
Your support helps ensure that local workers, families, and young adults can continue to live, work, and thrive right here on the Sunshine Coast.
