The Kitchen Table Collective

The Kitchen Table Collective is a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) program led by older adults and supported by the Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society and many community partners, including the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre, VCH, the Primary Care Network, and others.

The initiative supports older adults who want to age in place by strengthening social connections, reducing isolation, and improving access to services and supports — all within the places they already call home.

By bringing together seniors who live in the same apartment building or housing community, the Kitchen Table Collective creates opportunities for shared meals, learning, social activities, and connection to local services in a way that feels familiar, welcoming, and practical. Programs are led and shaped by residents themselves and may include health and wellness activities, educational sessions, social gatherings, and community-led events.

By leveraging the natural concentration of older adults living in one place, the Kitchen Table Collective delivers low-cost, high-impact supports that build community, enhance well-being, and help seniors remain safely and independently housed for longer.
