New Affordable Housing Complex Opens in Gibsons

“It's from old to young and you never feel alone here. We've been here just a month and we feel so blessed, my husband and I, we’re so lucky.”

Addressing the small group of dignitaries, staff and members of the public gathered for the official opening of O’Shea Place in Gibsons, July 9, tenant Janice Metzgner described their new home as a “lifesaver” for many of the people who recently moved into the complex, described as “affordable housing.”

O’Shea Place is the second phase of the housing complex, home to middle-income earners, including health-care workers, tradespeople, first responders, seniors, and early-childhood educators, operated by the Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society. The building, which includes 33 units, was delivered through BC Builds, and includes a 45-space child-care facility.
